Settling Snow
I snapped this photograph from our bedroom window this morning.
It's a rare snowy day in the southeast of England, with an accompanying relative hush. Schools are closed, lorries jackknifed. Though with the window from which I took this picture opened outward a few inches, I can hear traffic whooshing by still. How reticent we are to slow down to the tune of nature, to rest in peace but for a day, to settle in amongst friends and loved ones, or with our too often largely ignored inner selves, to settle like the snow.
