Tom Feeley, ICH Editor & Family Threatened

Introduction by Sean@iNoodle.com:

Below is an email which was sent out by Eric Larsen yesterday in response to his learning -- by way of an email circulated by Mike Whitney -- of serious threats made, apparently on Sunday, August 3, against Tom Feeley, his wife, their son and even his children.

Tom, as many of you will know, is the editor-publisher of Information Clearing House, or ICH, one of the most informative sources of independent news and analysis available on the web, or anywhere else for that matter.

Please do all you can to spread word of the threats made against Tom and his family, both for the sake of their personal safety and well-being in knowing that they're not alone in their struggle, and to counteract any journalistic chilling effect such threats could have on independent-minded publishers, editors, journalists and writers.

Dear Readers of A Nation Gone Blind, Other Recipients, Writers, Thinkers, Patriots, Friends:

This past Wednesday, on Hiroshima Day (see " The Lies of Hiroshima Are the Lies of Today"), I got an email from Tom Tvedten, M.D. (whom I hope you’ll remember) containing the frightening news that the wife of Tom Feeley, publisher of Information Clearing House,
had been threatened IN HER OWN HOUSE by three goons who had let themselves in, had a gun, and demanded that Tom stop publishing ICH--in my view, one of the two most absolutely essential regularly-published news-and-analysis outlets on the internet, the other being Online Journal, with CounterCurrents.org not so far behind.

The threat-attack on Tom Feeley is nothing less than terrifying, as it always is when the thugs and Brownshirts come--and you can read a detailed description of it, and of Tom's reaction to it, by clicking here. What you'll be reading is an email by one of the most highly significant writers on the internet, Mike Whitney, who is also a friend of Tom Feeley's.

What does it mean when government-associated Brownshirts and thugs-in-suits begin openly threatening people--and their children and grandchildren--for the "crime" of exercising their First Amendment rights by writing, telling, and publishing the simple truth about the mob that is presently running our country? Well, it means that we're--all of us--in very, very, very great danger. The US is on the brink of falling into a fascist state, one where the thugs and Brownshirts take care of anyone--the word is ANYONE--who displeases the utterly contemptible Hitler-Mussolini-Cheney-Bush types who have chosen, and who have managed, to set things up just exactly the way they want 'em. Or almost.

No Americans WANT to hear things like this, many others REFUSE to, and many, many more are INCAPABLE of hearing them. Those who are incapable are as dangerous to us all as the Cheney-Bushiscti, since they'll NEVER resist or fight back. And if they don't, then one day soon--or yesterday--just suppose you write an email to Aunt Josephine saying that even though you're against the death penalty, you think it would be justifiable in the case of Bush and Cheney. Thanks to people like Barack Obama and everyone else who voted for the infamous FISA bill, that email can be spied on--LEGALLY. And so every one of us with strong political opinions--or strong adherence to our Constitutional freedoms and rights--is in grave danger. And what will each of US do when the Brownshirts come to OUR door, or when they steal into OUR kitchen and wait, armed, to threaten and terrify US when we come home, the way they did Tom Feeley's wife, or when the whim takes them to do even worse?

Nobody can avoid the fact that these things are happening inside the U.S. with the knowledge, permission, and complicity of our elected leaders from top to bottom of the electoral hierarchy. And if you want to get even more concerned, read what the great Lawrence Lessig says about the "government's" plans for pulling off the equivalent of a 9/11 regarding the internet that will let them pass an “internet-Patriot Act” that will destroy the last area of free speech in the nation.

Mike Whitney says that although Tom Feeley "plans to keep publishing," he "will have to go underground as much as possible." "Someone," says Whitney, "wants him to 'shut up' and they apparently have the muscle to do it. He knows he is in danger."

What can anyone do? Read ICH, for one thing. Donate money to it, for another. And ALSO do what Mike Whitney advises:

"Tom knows some of the best writers on the Internet-many of them speak out regularly and forcefully on issues of civil liberties and war. Anything they can do to draw attention to Tom’s situation will greatly improve his chances of getting through this ordeal safely."

And that's why I'm sending this email and linking it to this page on my site. If everyone receiving this email sends it on to everybody they know or can think of in the world, just imagine how many others it might reach! Imagine how many new readers ICH might get! And imagine how many new DONATIONS it might get!

The more of us who do something, ANYTHING, the better. If we can help defend Tom Feeley, well, just maybe he'll still be around to help defend US when OUR midnight banging at the door comes around.

Pray that such never happens. But everything--absolutely EVERYthing--is in place to make it possible. The more people who know this ugly and virulently dangerous truth, the better.

We're on high alert. We're coming into our final chances to do anything, into endgame. One thing we can do, as I've said, is spread the word, spread it widely, and spread it far. Please do that with this email.

In the name of humanity, of the real patriotic, and of hope,

Eric Larsen
