SAN FRANCISCO With the clock ticking down to the scheduled execution of Stanley Tookie Williams, officials are making final preparations at San Quentin State Prison. Guards are watching Williams for unusual behavior and are recording his activities every 15 minutes.
The death chamber where as many as 50 people are allowed to witness executions has been cleaned. It's also been stocked with fresh supplies of medical tape, syringes and chemicals.
The California Highway Patrol is preparing security measures for outside the prison, where hundreds of people are expected to rally tonight.
Meanwhile, there's no word from the governor's office on whether he'll spare the life of Williams by granting clemency.
Williams is scheduled to be executed at one minute past midnight.
